The Dennis Crain Youth Scholarship

Mr. Dennis was always interested in the youth of LQHA. Since his passing his family has implemented a scholarship in his name to help our youth further their dreams via education. Please watch this space for more information on the guidelines for this scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements for LQHYA Scholarship

The following eligibility requirements must be met in full in order to apply for the LQHYA Scholarship. The applicant must:

Have been a member of LQHA or LQHYA for at least 2 years.
Have been a Louisiana resident during LQHYA membership.
Be enrolled in a degree granting college, university or vocational/technical school.
Have earned at least a 2.0 average during last term or semester.
Have demonstrated an interest and participation in Quarter Horse activities.
Submit an essay explaining how the American Quarter Horse has affected or benefited him/her. The essay should include the applicant’s plans and goals for the future.

Other Scholarship Information

The amount of the scholarship will be $500.
Applications will be taken from January 1 through April 30.
An application form can be requested from the LQHA office by calling (504)656- 7780
All completed applications and essays should be mailed to LQHYA SCHOLARSHIP, Attention: Gay Jourdan, 13066 Hwy 1078, Folsom, La. 70432. and postmarked on or before April 30th of the year in which the scholarship is being presented.
Only one LQHYA scholarship may be awarded to an individual.
The scholarship winner will be announced and the award will be presented at the next LQHA Show.
